The Sunrise Method

Team development · Two lenses · Twelve months

Clarity at sunrise.
Growth on the horizon.

The Sunrise Method improves how your team communicates, decides, and recovers from friction, delivered by two facilitators from two disciplines, and measured for a full year until the habits hold.

The proposition

Most team programmes give you structure or psychology. You get both, from a psychotherapist and a soldier who agree.

Structure-only programmes produce compliant teams that fall apart under interpersonal strain. Psychology-only programmes produce insightful teams that still can’t ship. We run both lenses over the same live moments, in the same room, so your team learns to ask the question that changes everything:

“Is this a clarity problem, or a relationship problem?”

By the second afternoon, your team can tell the difference, and fix either.

The framework

The Horizon Loop

Growth is a loop, not a leap. Every session, every quarter, and the whole year run the same cycle: the rhythm of a day, repeated until it becomes the team’s own rhythm.

InsightActionReflectionGrowth
InsightSunrise
See the team clearly: Compass profiles, the Team Map, and the frustrations named out loud for the first time.
ActionMidday
Put it to work: real role-plays, a mission simulation, briefing and back-briefing on live material.
ReflectionSunset
Review honestly: the after-action review of what happened to the task, then the process review of what happened to the people.
GrowthNight to dawn
Make it habit: the Team Contract, coaching, monthly pulses and quarterly resets carry the learning into the next cycle.

The method

Three lenses on the same behaviour

Every exercise in the room is examined through more than one lens. Nobody is streamed by personality; everybody stretches.

Lens 01 · The doorway

The Compass

How are we different?

A short styles questionnaire in the portal gives the whole team a fast, low-threat vocabulary for difference: how each person tends to take in information, decide, and plan. It is a shared language, not a verdict, and it opens the door to the deeper work.

Example: a detail-first engineer and a big-picture founder stop talking past each other once the brief carries both the steps and the why.

Lens 02 · The therapist

The Process Lens

What happened between the people?

Drawn from Transactional Analysis, this lens reads the layer under every conversation: the positions people retreat to under pressure, the blame patterns that rotate around a team, and the moves that get everyone back to an adult-to-adult footing.

Example: the deadline argument that is never really about the deadline. The team learns to find the crossing point and re-run the exchange so it lands.

Lens 03 · The soldier

The Structure Lens

Was the task ever clear?

Drawn from military leadership, this lens installs mission clarity: state the purpose and the end-state, brief in five parts, have the receiver play the task back before starting, and review honestly afterwards, with blame structurally excluded.

Example: “that’s not what I meant” becomes rare, because every handover ends with a thirty-second back-brief.

The signature move: a structured exercise is immediately reviewed through the process lens, and every relational insight is tied back to a clearer brief. See why the interleave works

The engagement

A year with The Sunrise Method

We don’t sell a workshop and wave goodbye. The change is carried by rhythm, so every engagement is a twelve-month partnership, contracted upfront, honestly measured.

  1. Month 0

    Discovery and pre-work

A discovery call, then your team completes the Compass and shares what is actually causing friction (privately, through the portal) so the two days are built on your real material.

  2. Months 1–2

    The two-day Core

Day one builds awareness: profiles, the Team Map, and the patterns under pressure. Day two builds application: a mission simulation, an honest review, and a Team Contract everyone consents to.

  3. Monthly

    Pulses and coaching

A short monthly pulse keeps the signal live. Individuals draw on a coaching bank: psychological coaching or leadership mentoring, chosen, never assigned.

  4. Quarterly

    Resets

One day per quarter: an honest review of the quarter against the Team Contract, a refreshed skill, and an updated impact report. Four sunrises a year, not one.

The promise

We measure behaviour, not vibes

Before we start, your team answers a short baseline: how clear expectations feel, how safe it is to speak up, how much friction is costing you. At thirty and ninety days we ask again, and we count the behaviours that actually changed: reviews run, handovers played back, repairs made within twenty-four hours, contract clauses kept.

Every quarter you receive an impact report: baseline against follow-up, behavioural adoption, and the business signals you care about: delivery, incidents, rework, retention. If the needle isn’t moving, you’ll see that too, and we’ll change course together.

Start with a conversation, not a contract

Tell us what's going on in your team. We'll tell you honestly whether the method fits, and what a year would look like.
